Counseling for Depression
in Phoenix
Depression is being stuck in active passivity, waiting for something to happen that finally motivates you. That “something” is happening right now.
Your life feels like it is controlled by a negative critic - that unpleasant voice in your head that constantly says you’re not good enough, that the few good things you experience aren’t a result of your own hard work (and therefore, you don’t deserve them), that you shouldn’t stick up for yourself, and that if you just wait for a moment, the other shoe will drop.
The negative critic reminds you of all your mistakes, focuses on making you feel guilty, and creates doubt that impacts every decision you make until you don’t fulfill your potential and then become stuck in the negative cycle over and again.
This invisible barrier to fulfillment and joy stays in control by telling you one of the biggest lies - that nothing you do and no one you reach out to will be able to help.
Counseling can and does help depression, and through counseling you can see lasting changes that impact your life in a positive way. We will work together to make sure you have tools to handle your depression in everyday situations, to quiet the negative critic, and to look at your life through a different lens.
Depression therapy can help you address these common scenarios:
Isolation from friends and family
Feeling unworthy of love or friendship
Guilt about past decisions and situations
Hopelessness about your future, your career, your relationships
Lack of motivation for work, school and caring for your home life
Difficulty concentrating, sleeping, or “foggy” thinking
When we meet together, our time is focused on you and helping you move through and out of depression. No topic is off limits. No conversation is too dark or too much for us to handle together. And I will be real with you, not dismissing the reality that you may have some big obstacles in your way. However, I’m persistent and dedicated to helping you find solutions.
My goal is that you feel supported, listened to, and gain a new perspective in every session.
I am an in-network therapist with Blue Cross Blue Shield and United HealthCare.
